I use many old math and science books so you will be surprised at what you may find when you look closely. This little gem has deep texture from the white lines that rise above the pages.

Entropy is the movement of mass and energy from a stable state to an expanding yet unstable state. This painting is my interpretation of this phenomenon. Acrylic paint, ground metal particles, crackle paste and transfers are merged into a vibrant painting.

This painting is from my book, Acrylic Painting for Encaustic Effects. It has a painting on top of a painting. The background painting has wonderful texture created with acrylic and pastes. The top painting is made on canvas and uses concrete and plaster. There is collage and lots of layers of acrylic to get the piece to look like encaustic. Less. is a brief and passionate return to figurative mixed media, as I populate the painting with a community of women from across the ages — including some from my own family.

The galaxy comes alive in this piece. There are hundreds of planets swirling in the vastness of space. The interference colors reflect differently depending on the angle of the light. This painting is finished with a thick layer of high gloss resin which enhances the depth. The painting wraps around the sides.
